Been a while... again... Sadly our gaming situation hasn't improved, although if the pandemic ever ends that might (might) change. In the meantime, I wanted to at least put something out there that other people can use. Here are my builds for the Satyr and Troll (aka Ogre) species in Savage Worlds; they're meant for the Deluxe edition (and built using those rules), but probably will work fine in the new Adventurer's Edition as well.
It's all Faun and games until someone gets drunk... |
Satyrs
The Satyrs (aka Fauns) of the deep woods are frequent guests at rural festivals, and fast friends to those who share their passions. Contrary to rumor, Satyrs of all genders can be found throughout the land.
- Hooves, Don't Fail Me Now: Satyrs have a Pace of 8", and use a d10 for running.
- Raise the Horns: Satyrs' horns are sturdy enough for melee attacks, dealing Str+d6 damage.
- Enough Is Enough: Whether it's drinking, singing, or flirting, Satyrs tend to keep going longer than they should - often annoying their fellow revelers. This gives them a -1 modifier to Charisma, and is otherwise treated like the Habit (Minor) Hindrance.
Trolls
Ten feet tall, blue, and muscular, the Trolls (aka Ogres or Oni) are difficult to miss. Their warriors are among the strongest in all the lands, even rivaling the average Dragon.
- Big Boned: Trolls' mass gives them a +3 to Toughness, and with their height they have +1 to Reach, allowing Fighting attacks against opponents up to 1" away.
- Is My Size Up There: Trolls' mass also slows them down; their Pace is 5", and they use a d4 for running. They also have difficulty squeezing into tight spaces, or finding clothes & armor that fit.
- Dyspraxia: Trolls are intelligent, but have difficulty learning and remembering new information. (This is one reason for their love of books - it's easier to write something down than to memorize it.) A Troll adventurer's Smarts attribute requires 2 points per step to raise at character creation.
